The Department’s major research strength is in the areas of cross-cultural and comparative management with a special focus on the Asia-Pacific region, in particular China and Hong Kong.

Major research and teaching focuses:

  • Organization studies: organizational behavior, organization change and development and organization and management theory.
  • Human resource management: staffing, selection, performance appraisal and compensation, management training and development.
  • Strategic management: environmental analysis, strategy formulation and implementation, globalization and the roles and problems of CEOs.
  • Cross-cultural management: theory and practice.
  • Entrepreneurship: the creation and management of new ventures, small business management and the Chinese entrepreneurial spirit.
