Overview & Directions

The Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics undertakes both theory- and application-oriented research in the following three broad areas:

  • Business/managerial economics: economic perspectives for management theory, regional business and industry studies, business forecasting, portfolio management, trade and development, business cycles and productivity studies.
  • Decision sciences: quality management, production and inventory management, operations systems modelling, operations management, management information systems and the application of statistics in business.
  • Regional management practices: empirical research on regional business and management practices.

The Department also engages in collaborative research activities with academics elsewhere in CUHK Business School and the University, with scholars abroad and with the local business community.
