Three Global Business Studies (GBS) Year 1 students championed at the Hong Kong Final of The HSBC Young Entrepreneur Award in April. The team then represented Hong Kong in the Regional Competition and won the Diamond Award (1st runner-up) in June by defeating the other Gold Award teams from Bangladesh, Brunei, Malaysia and Thailand.
The winning team, Seizers, comprising Jeff Hui, Derek Sin and Juliana Tam, introduced an innovative concept of 'NuBurger' to address the obesity problem prevalent in the United States. Their business plan offered a solution to obesity by adding alginate, a tasteless and odourless substance extracted from brown algae, into burgers which will highly increase the fibre content and reduce fat absorption by half and making fast food healthy for everyone.
