The Center for Hospitality and Real Estate Research serves to consolidate the research efforts of The School of Hotel and Tourism Management. It conducts locally relevant applied research projects that directly benefit the hospitality industry and serves as a bridge between academia and business. The Center also works closely with the industry to organize public and company-specific executive development programs. Seminars and conferences on current issues are also held to facilitate discussion and an exchange of views among industry players. Previous conferences include the ’CU2 Joint Conference on Hospitality and Tourism in Hong Kong’ co-organized with the Cornell Hotel School, the 'Tourism Forum: Charting Strategies for Developing Hong Kong as a Tourist Destination' and the 'K. Wah Hotel and Tourism Forum: Hotel Investment 2005’.
The Center has also published the SHTM Newsletter since 2006 to facilitate communication and exchange news among scholars and industry players.
