MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Yeung Hoi-yan, Jeff, Ph.D
Programme Director

Thank you for your interests in our Master of Science Programme in Information and Technology Management (MSc. ITM). This 18-month programme will equip you with the latest technology and management know-how to give you an edge in the market place.

Information technology has actually emerged as a new fundamental factor of production in Hong Kong. Our society is under an urgent need to upgrade our service industries such as finance, insurance, real estates, transport logistics, and hospitality to secure our position as a leading digital city in the globally connected world. Managers must develop the ability to manage information with the most up-to-date information technology (IT). They must be able to use their knowledge of IT to plan, employ and deploy information systems to enhance the productivity, competitiveness and performance of their organizations. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for personnel with the ability to creatively apply information technology in enhancing the competitiveness of service industries.

Courses offered in this innovative, technology-oriented, and practical Programme are taught by internationally renowned professors of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and other well known universities. Complementing these academic experts are distinguished industry leaders who regularly share their professional views and experiences with fellow students in our courses. The advanced programme of study is designed both for individuals with a technical or an engineering background to gain the requisite knowledge in technology management, as well as for those with a business background to acquire cutting edge proficiency in IT. In addition to the meticulously designed curriculum, overseas visitation programmes are organized to expand our students' network with leading IT executives. In the process, students are constantly challenged to sharpen their critical thinking and decision-making skills. These skills will become indispensable assets as their careers accelerate into the high demand areas of e-business, IT application, and technology management. The Master degree programme is also a solid stepping-stone for those interested in Ph.D. studies.

You are cordially welcome to attend our Information Seminars. I look forward to seeing you in our information seminars and our classes.

Best wishes for your successful personal and professional developments in 2009.
