MGT 4140 International Human Resource Management
Course Description
This course examines key issues and problems involved in managing human resource globally. In addition to comparative analyses of selected HRM areas such as global staffing, development, and compensation, special topics also include expatriate management, managing a foreign and culturally diverse workforce and strategic HRM issues in international joint ventures.
Objectives
This course is designed to increase students’ knowledge of the area of international human resource management.
After studying this course students should be able to:
- Understand the impact of culture on HRM policies
- Explain the significant issues involved in the management of human assets in a global context
- Compare and analyze selected models of HRM across countries
- Explain the special nature of staffing and development of global assignments
- Recognize the issues created by overseas transfers and repatriate management
- Understand workforce diversity
- Evaluate the strategic HRM issues in international joint ventures
