Weather

Hong Kong has a subtropical climate with seasonal changes. It enjoys a mild climate from the middle of September to the end of February, while the weather from May to mid-September is warm and humid. 80% of Hong Kong's precipitation occurs in summer months, with August registering the highest rainfall.

Languages

Cantonese is the main language for communication. However, English is also very widely used. Visitors usually encounter few problems communicating with people in most hotels, restaurants, and even taxis.

Hong Kong is geographically compact and boasts one of the world's most efficient, safe and affordable public transport systems. Whether by taxi, ferry, train, bus or tram, you can get around easily and catch wonderful views of the city along the way.

Banks and Currencies

Major banks are open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. They close on Sundays and public holidays. Automated teller machines (ATMs) can be found almost everywhere.
