CUMBA students recent participation in worldwide business competitions

To act on our Faculty’s belief in “putting theories to practice”, CUMBA students are constantly encouraged and supported by the Faculty to take part in worldwide or regional business competitions. The following are some of our students’ recent participations in these competitions and achieving proud results:

Thammasat Asia moot Corp
Participated in “Thammasat Asia Moot Corp 2009”, Thailand, 10 March

Four part-time CUMBA students Jimmy Chan, Joshua Lau, Winnie Tse and Ginni Lai presented their innovative concept of setting up a company called “Peony Solution” to realize a healthcare vision of using expressive therapies to help clients express and release stress. Their academic advisor for the plan was Prof. David Ahlstrom.
NUS

Participated in “NUS Cerebration 2009 Business Plan Competition”, Singapore, 5 April

A team of 4 full-time CUMBA students, making into the semi-final of the Competition, were invited to present their business plan in Singapore.

GSVC

Participated in “Global Social Venture Competition 2009”, India, 24 April

Full-time student Kenntth CHEN (Class of 2009) presented his business plan “Developing professionalism in NGO sector of Hong Kong through training, information transparency, performance evaluation and data base support services” at the Competition.


New admittees for 2009-intake met alumni and staff at "Welcome Party"

On 7 April, a "Welcome Party" was hosted by CUMBA programme staff in Central to welcome new students who have been admitted to this year's programme. Joined by alumni and current students at the party, good bonding and friendships have certainly begun!

CSR2009

"CUMBA CSR Conference 2009" organised and held by CUMBA students

For the third year in a row, the conference was entirely organized by full-time and part-time CUMBA students. It was held at The Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center on 6 May. The event has attracted good attendance by local corporate executives and the general public alike. This year's conference, titled "Creating Sustainable Impact – CSR as a Competitive Edge", featured Sir Robert Swan, a world-renowned polar explorer, as its keynote speaker. His insights and inspirational words for this new generation of business leaders were continuously applauded by the audience.

"Alumni and New Students Get-together in Shanghai", hosted by new Faculty Dean, Prof. T J Wong

A special tea party was held in Shanghai on 30 May where local alumni and new students were delighted to meet our Faculty's new Dean, Prof. T J Wong. Prof Wong amiably shared his visions and ambitions for developing our Faculty into the Best of the Best in the Region. It has been planned that more local gatherings of this nature will be organized in the future to facilitate better networking and stronger solidarity.

This has further differentiated our programme as one which offers a vast diversity of exchange programmes and attaches much importance to enhancing our students’ international learning experience.
