CUMBA “Class 2008” Graduation
All the hard work and all the all-nighters have paid off for our Class 2008 graduates as they reached the “finishing line” symbolized by their December graduation ceremony! It was a warm and memorable event as they spent it together with their fellow classmates, friends and loved ones who had given them great support along the way. They say the CUMBA has certainly equipped them better and given them the business know-hows, invaluable networks and greater confidence to conquer career high-grounds. And we look forward to their coming back to share with us many success stories in the years to come! |

“CUMBA Information Session” in Hong Kong
CUMBA has activated its online application system as early as mid-November and almost concurrently held its first “CUMBA Information Session in Hong Kong” on 15 November. The Session, conducted by our Programme Director Prof. Michael Ferguson, met with great response from locals as well as expats who were interested in our programme. More than 150 attendees showed up to learn more about our CUMBA. They also enjoyed the chance of speaking with our admission staff, current students and alumni directly to get first-hand information. |

CUMBA Student Team Made Top-10 in Worldwide Business Competition
In November, a team of five CUMBA students (Class 2010) made it into the final-round of the “Innovation challenge 2008”, a global business plan competition organized by The University of Virginia, and subsequently traveled to Darden, USA to present their innovative business plan. This team had eclipsed over 96% of the competitors before they got into the “Top-10 Most Innovative MBA Teams in the World”. In that, it also means they had beaten 250 teams from other top universities including Yale, Columbia, Northwestern, UCLA, UC Berkeley and UNC! CUMBA had only sent two teams to participate in the “Innovation Challenge 2008” and we were pleased to see that the other team also made it into the semi-final (top 25 teams). Carry on the good work, CUMBA elites! |

The Li & Fung Lectures
The “Li & Fung Lectures” distinguished speakers programme was established since 1982 by an endowment from Li and Fung Limited. To commemorate its 75th anniversary in 2008, it has invited the world-renowned Chinese scholar Prof. Ding Junfa to speak on a special topic of "Development Strategies for Modern Logistics Industry in China and Business Opportunities for Hong Kong". This distinguished lecture and the receptions beforehand have brought together our university people, our CUMBA alumni and exemplifies the relationship that we treasure with the business communities. |
