The NSYSU group was led by Prof. Y.H. Chen, Associate Dean of College of Management and Prof. Y.S. Chang, Director of Department of Finance. They began their visit to CUHK with a guided campus tour accompanied by our two students: CHAN Ka Fai (Year 2, PAC) and Alvina WONG (Year 2, BBA). In the afternoon, they were joined by 20 of our Year 1 and Year 2 students in a seminar. Prof. Timon Du of DSE gave a lecture on "HK Economic Development, post 1997" while Prof. Chang of NSYSU talked about "Higher Education and Creativity". During their short time together, the students realized that despite a common ethnic background, and separated only by less than two hours air travel time, there are vast cultural differences. Nevertheless, they also discovered the joy of wanting to know more about one another. It was heard that separate arrangements had been made by the CUHK students to take their counterparts on a late walkabout to one of the popular night spots in town. |

The itinerary for the second day was very full with visits to Cathay Pacific Catering Services and MTR in the morning; HK Exchange and HK Monetary Authority in the afternoon. Richard TANG (Year 2, QFN) and Karus LAW (Year 2, BBA) accompanied the delegation throughout the day and they were joined by Shelley ZHANG Tianyu (Year 2, BBA) in the afternoon. The students from Taiwan got a taste of how it is to travel around town using public transportation and felt the city pulse of a typical HK day. |
