Chan Wai Lun Alan (Integrated BBA Year 2), who participated in the event, shares her experience with us: |
| |
| |
"What can be imagined, can be achieved!" |
| |
| |
Inspired by Ms Leonie Ki, I now recognize the importance of imagination in contributing to the success of a person or a company. Ms Ki gave numerous innovative examples delivered with humor during the presentation. She made very convincing points and introduced different perspectives for audience to think about and imagine. Moreover, I was very impressed as I found students could not stop raising their hands during the Q&A session. It seemed that the talk had raised interest in finding out how to pave their career paths and the significance of thinking out of the box. Try to use your imagination and implement what you imagine: this is what I learnt from Ms Ki. |

It was a meaningful event where we had a chance to come together to brainstorm, draft and extensively elaborate upon our ideas to help the SCHSA, a successful social enterprise. We truly enjoyed the whole process and were happy to receive comments for improvement.

Said Kiki Shek, "I was honored to be granted this precious opportunity to meet Prof. Andrew Chan, Mr Roger Luk and Mr Terence Chan in the insightful radio programme "New Thinking in Management". Not having much of this kind of experience before, I was surprised that conversing with these high-ranking and authoritative business professionals was indeed pleasant. Throughout the whole process, including the preparation meetings and discussions over the alarming issue of the "Financial Tsunami", I learned not only about the production flow of a radio show, but also strengthened my analytical skills. I even got some insights from the casual conversations during our dinner, in which we shared our thoughts and ideas.
In my opinion, it would be hard to find such a rewarding and scintillating first-hand experience like this from lectures. Therefore, I would like to express my sincere thanks to UGO for providing me with this invaluable chance to meet these leaders and get a glimpse of the top controversial issues today, which undoubtedly benefited my self-enhancement as well as my future development." |

Prof. Andrew C.F. Chan, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies), and Ms Judy Kong, Global Business Studies fresh graduate, attended the Social Capital Dinner Seminar on 19 August 2008. |
| |
"I attended the Hong Kong Social Enterprise Forum (HKSEF) member's dinner seminar with Prof. Andrew C.F. Chan on 19 August 2008, I found it very inspiring and motivating. The founder of HKSEF, Dr KK Tse, and other members of the Forum were fully devoted to the development of social enterprises in Hong Kong. Knowing the fact that some social entrepreneurs may experience difficulties in applying management philosophy to their social enterprise models, I plan to make use of my business and social science knowledge and experiences to contribute to the future development of social enterprises in Hong Kong.
On top of the learning, I was happy to network with a group of experienced businessmen and outstanding social entrepreneurs. Their achievements and persistence inspired me a lot and reminded me of the importance of being a leader through building a sustainable enterprise and serving the community. I talked with Dr Tse about joining HKSEF and he wanted me to get involved in the SE Consultant Project to learn from outstanding SE consultants. The dinner was amazing and it was a pleasure to meet reputable social entrepreneurs in Hong Kong." |
