CUBA is the No. 1 Faculty in Hong Kong in the Early Admission Scheme

I want to share with you my excitement and joy from reading the admission statistics of the Early Admission Scheme (EAS). The EAS is an admission channel for the top 450 students among 100,000 taking the Hong Kong Certificate of Entrance Examination (HKCEE). These students get A's in at least 6 subjects, plus C or above in English and Chinese. They can be admitted to universities after they have finished their Secondary 6 and do not need to take the A-Level Exam.

The EAS results have been announced today. CUHK is giving out 192 offers, UST 36 and HKU 190. This is the first time CUHK is giving more offers than HKU since the EAS was introduced 4 years ago.

Our Business Faculty is doing exceptionally well this year. We are admitting 78 EAS students, a 30% increase from last year. That is also more than 40% of CUHK offers in this year! In fact, our Faculty is the faculty in Hong Kong admitting the most number of EAS students, even more than the two Medical Schools and the Law School at HKU. In terms of academic performance, our 78 EAS students in total get A's in 540 subjects! That is also the highest number among all faculties in Hong Kong. We are doing even better than the 4 law programs combined at HKU!

Our QFN program is doing very well in this exercise. We have 22 applicants putting our QFN as their first choice (eventually we admit 20), but none put the QFN program at UST as first choice. Our PAC program is the most popular accounting program in Hong Kong. 23 applicants put our PAC program as their first choice; none put the accounting programs at UST and HKU as their first choice. Eventually, we are admitting 31 EAS students into the PAC program.

Our newly introduced Global Business Studies has become the most demanding program in Hong Kong. The students have at least 8 A's with a median at 9 A's. Their average TOEFL score is 273 out of 300 and their average IELTS score is 7.75 out of 9. The students are also very active in extra-curricular activities, social services, sports and music. Simply speaking, we have admitted the best students into this program in whatever criteria you may use.

Since there is no formal ranking for undergraduate programs, the University administrators and the public usually use the admission results to rank the programs. We have once again proved to the public that we have the best undergraduate business programs in Hong Kong.

Best regards,
